WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We contract valued caretakers who will work with us long-term. We are seeking bright and energetic candidates for dog walking and cat care visit position. The right candidate should have excellent communication skills, prior dog handling experience, patients, a genuine love of animals, and live within our service area of Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Wyckoff, and Midland Park, New Jersey. This is an excellent position for anyone looking for supplementary income. Our administrative staff takes care of all the behind-the-scenes work such as meeting and onboarding new clients, scheduling, and billing so you can focus on what really matters — caring for pets and enjoying the fresh air. 

 

​COMPENSATION

 $22-$34/hour depending on the number of visits assigned to you per day.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Travel to our clients’ homes to perform the pet-sitting duties outlined by our customers. Sitters contracted by The Pack Dog Walkers can be classified as a Dog Walker, a Pet Sitter, Cat Caretaker, or any combination of the three.  This is based on your availability and what services you’re interested in offering to our clients. You will have access to our pet sitting software for check-in and check out of each service. If we feel you are a good fit for our team a full job description will be provided to you.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a minimum age of 22 years old, no exceptions will be made

• Must have a reliable car with insurance, and driver’s license

• Live within our service area of Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Wyckoff, and Midland Park,NJ (this is because sometimes there is a gap in time between services so living outside of our service area makes building a schedule difficult)

• Be available on a consistent basis at least 2 weekdays per week for a block of hours. Mid-day from 11-2:30 is our busiest time of day. You can also add the 8am -11am shift and/or 3pm-8pm shift to your schedule. Our company offers service from 8am to 8pm, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. An ideal candidate will be availability at least one weekend date per month and at least one major holiday per year. Holiday services pay an additional $25 per visit in addition to your regular pay.

• Knowledge and skills in Animal Care, Pet Care, and Dog Behavior a plus

• Familiarity with Dog Training and the ability to manage dogs of various sizes and temperaments (we do not work with pets that show any signs of aggression) 

• Strong observational skills and attention to detail to ensure pet safety and well-being.

• Reliable, punctual, and physically capable of handling active dogs over extended periods.

• Have respect for our clients' homes as well as their pets- this is important.

• Passion for animals and a compassionate, patient attitude.

• Must have a smartphone to access our pet care software.

• Follow the client provided care instructions including training preferences. 

• Be able to provide professional references.
